About Us
Sinag-Tala (Star-Light) Dance Group is the dance component of the Sinag-Tala Performing Arts which, in turn, is the cultural program of the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City(F.A.G.K.C.). F.A.G.K.C. is a non-profit Kansas City-based organization whose mission is to enhance the general public's appreciation and understanding of Philippine culture through cultural presentions and exhibits, community outreach and education and research programs.
The Sinag-Tala Dance Group itself was established in 1972. Since then, it has actively represented the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City at community services, multicultural festivals or events, and in schools, parishes, centers, and private functions throughout the Greater Kansas City area. The original dancers who founded the group have passed on the responsibility to preserve and promote the Filipino cultural heritage to the new generation of young kids and adults. This is their quest - to keep the Filipino tradition alive.
